THE MAGICKAL & HEALING PROPERTIES OF HEMATITE
People once to referred to hematite as a “blood stone” in the Middle Ages because the water it was cleaned in would turn a dark, blood red. This is due to the high iron content in hematite. Hematite was frequently used in mourning jewelry during the 18th & 19th century and it was even ground up into a powder to make a beautiful red blush. Hematite is one of my favorite stones because of it’s ability to assist one in staying grounded & centered. It is a must-have stone in everyone’s crystal/mineral collection!
Magickal Uses:
Hematite is an excellent stone to use for psychic protection. It wards off negativity, grounds nervous energy and will help protect you from any incorrect magick that may be sent your way. When used to assist in astral travel, hematite helps to protect you on your journey.
Carry or wear hematite if you have trouble focusing/calming your mind during spellwork or meditation. It will help you concentrate and will assist you in focusing your mind on one thing. A large, polished piece of hematite also makes a wonderful scrying mirror!
Healing Properties
Carry or wear hematite to help connect, balance & harmonize your mind, body and spirit. If you find yourself overcome with anxiety & stress, keep a hematite close to ground nervous energy and to help bring peace to your mind. Hematite also helps you to see what’s important when you are forced to juggle priorities.
Hematite is an excellent stone to use to help you discover your strength, confidence and power. If you have trouble standing up for yourself, setting boundaries or have become a doormat to others, hematite is the stone for you!
Ancient Egyptians believed hematite could help to stop a wound from bleeding. In modern times, hematite can be used to help cleanse the blood and to help improve/regulate circulation. If you place hematite on a part of your body that is experiencing cramps, it will help to relieve the cramping. I always keep a piece of hematite close when I’m sick to help speed my recovery time!

I’ve been wearing a hematite every time when I go out for the past… 4 or 5 years. It really does wonders for unstable empaths, I’ll tell you that. ^^

Started my Indoor Planting Today !
So the weather is starting to get warmer and the Spring Equinox is in almost 2 weeks. So with that said it’s time to start working on growing this years herbs, vegetables, flowers, and this year I’m also going to be growing a couple of fruits such as strawberries this year. :)
So far I have only 12 seed packets that I bought yesterday with my mom. I plan to get a lot more to grow such as different vegetables and more herbs and fruits like strawberries. I decided I’m not going to plant them on my backyard seeing as how my dad always keeps on either digging up the soil while the seeds are growing or he thinks they are weeds and pulls them out. So from now on I’m putting my plants into containers and what better containers than using recyclable plastic soda bottles!
My brother has been keeping soda bottles and cans all winter long for trying to get money from that machine thing. Anyway he hasn’t been there in awhile because my dad won’t take him (he’s 10), so I just took all the large and medium soda bottles and turned them into containers.
I also saved up a couple of egg cartons over the past couple of months for the seed start ups instead of just buying them in the store.
The list of plants I have so far are:
lavender, thyme, sage, chamomile, forget-me-not, rosemary, tomatoes, red morning glory, zinnia, sunflowers, snapdragons, & chinese lantern (never heard of this plant before but it does grow berries!)
I still have to seed plant zinnia, the sunflowers, forget-me-not, and the red morning glory which a couple of the seeds are currently in a cup of warm water to help germinate the sees faster. I will continue cutting up the soda bottles and planting them tomorrow.
I plan to also grow some mint, basil, carrots, lemon balm, marjoram, calendula (marigold), mugwort, echinacea, squash, blackberry, raspberry, grapes, and as well as the vegetables we always grow in our backyard such as okra, eggplants, and green beans.
So for my fellow Northerner’s who are starting to grow their own herbs and plants, what are you growing/planning to grow?
How Solar Storms Work - Interactive
This week saw the arrival of a solar storm that many feared would cause electromagnetic havoc here on Earth (as well as giving us some more beautiful aurora porn). It didn’t prove to be all that bad in the end, but what exactly is a solar storm?
The kind folks at The Guardian have put together an interactive demo so that you can learn how they work. Of course, you’ll have to click through for the “interactive” part.

i’m going to ask my man if he can build me a little house like this in our backyard, with higher ceilings of course!
